• The CAP National Commander awarded Louisiana Wing with a National Commander's Unit Citation on August 18th of 2011. This award recognizes Louisiana Wing and all of its members for "exceptionally outstanding performance and achievement in the execution of the Civil Air Patrol's missions for America." The award was presented to honor Louisiana Wing's exemplary performance during the Mississippi River Flooding Mission which ran from April to June of this year. During the mission Louisiana Wing provided a continuous flow of aerial imagery to Local, State, and Federal officials to enable them to better manage their response to the disaster.

• Louisiana Wing received the Southwest Region Disaster Relief Award for 2011. This award recognizes Louisiana Wing "For Excellence in Disaster Relief", and was based on the Wing's overall contributions and operations throughout the past year. Louisiana Wing has a long history of responding professionally to the numerous disasters which befall our state, and this tradition of volunteer service continues today.

• The 2011 Louisiana Wing Annual Conference was held from 12 to 14 August, at the Country Inn & Suites in Pineville. The Conference was attended by more than 100 members of the Wing, all of whom enjoyed great opportunities for education and camaraderie. Thanks to all who participated in making this year's Conference a wonderful event!

• CyberPatriot IV is Coming Soon. CyberPatriot is the national high school cyber defense competition created by the Air Force Association (AFA) to excite, educate, and motivate the next generation of cyber defenders and other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) graduates our nation needs. • Louisiana Wing recently completed flying Aerial Search & Rescue (SAR) and Aerial Photography sorties in support of the Mississippi River Flooding Crisis. The aerial imagery obtained by Louisiana Wing was provided to the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), FEMA, the Louisiana National Guard, and other State and Federal agencies. Louisiana Wing flew over 180 sorties, and delivered over 7500 images of the flood-affected areas to assist our State and our communities with emergency preparations and disaster relief efforts.
